NSW Government Sustainability Policy
The NSW Government Sustainability Policy sets targets and strategies for the NSW Government to lead by example in sustainable water use, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from energy, waste and fleet management and sustainable purchasing.
The NSW Government has committed to become carbon neutral by 2020. The first step towards fulfilling this commitment is the NSW Government Sustainability Policy.
The
NSW Government Sustainability Policy sets targets and strategies for reducing energy and greenhouse gas emissions, sustainable water use, waste and fleet management and sustainable purchasing.
The NSW Government is committed to becoming
carbon neutral by 2020, with the operations of the NSW Cabinet becoming carbon neutral from mid-2009.
Technical support, information resources and funding is available to help agencies improve sustainability and meet policy targets.
The NSW Government is leading by example by incorporating waste minimisation and resource recovery principles into its business practices through the
Waste Reduction and Purchasing Policy.
Sustainable Procurement provides information and resources to help government employees incorporate the principles of sustainability into their purchasing decisions and procurement systems.
OEH has adopted a Sustainability Action Plan (SustainabilityAP2010083.pdf 832KB) that sets out key targets and strategies to reduce the department's environmental footprint in line with whole-of-government policies.
